Borek - Lachowska Piano Duo
Katarzyna Borek and Mirosława Lachowska started to work together in April 2010.
As a piano duo they study in Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover in a master class of the piano duo Aglika Genova & Liuben Dimitrov, which is one of the best piano duos worldwide. The pianists have been also improving their skills during many master classes and piano courses, working with prominent pianists and chamber music performers, among others under tuition of Prof. Alexander Bonduriansky. In January 2010 both artists were awarded a prestigious scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland “Young Poland”.
Mirosława Lachowska started to play the piano at the age of 6. In October 2008 she graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where she studied in the piano class of Prof. Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń and in the chamber music class of Prof. Anna Prabucka-Firlej. Since October 2006 she has been an assistant in the chamber music class of Prof. Anna Prabucka - Firlej in the Academy of Music in Gdańsk. She has won a lot of prizes in both national and international chamber music competitions, among others: the 3rd prize in Oleśnica (2006) and the 2nd prize in Częstochowa (2001). She has been awarded in many international piano duos competitions, among others in Valberg (2009) /the 3rd prize/, Oslo (2009) /the 3rd prize/, Druskininkai (2009) /Grand Prix/, Białystok (2008) /three special prizes/, New York (2007) /the 2nd prize/ and in Jesenik (2009 /the 3rd prize/ and 2005 /the 1st prize/). Mirosława Lachowska is also the laureate of many solo competitions, among others she won the 2nd prize (the 1st prize was not awarded) in the National Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (2007), she was the finalist of the 1st Magin National Chopin Competition in Łódź (2004) and she won the 1st prize in the 1st Władysław Kędra National Chopin Competition in Łódź (2002). She was twice awarded the scholarship of the Minister of Culture of Poland.
